Do you have dreams of one day becoming a published novelist? Do you want to live a fast-paced life full of creativity, magic, excitement, and of course fame and fortune? Well, good luck with that! As for me, I'm between projects and frankly? Honestly? I'm kind of suffering from NETD syndrome. (NETD=Not Enough To Do) It's true. Just when I thought life couldn't get any busier or more overwhelming...it kind of came to a screeching halt.
Sure, I have a kid who needs to be fed and dressed and driven to and from preschool and bathed and read to and entertained in various other ways. That's all taken care of and under control. And yeah, I'm throwing a baby shower in less than a month for my AMAZING best friend who's having her third (yes, third) daughter soon (hi Bec!). I already ordered everything for that and even printed up the invitations. Of course I'm between books two and three in the FRENEMIES series, so I need to line up some magazine work. Well, guess what? I've written three incredible pitches in the past couple days and I'm actually a little worried I'm bothering the hell out of busy editors who don't have time to deal with my constant querying. I even steam-cleaned the carpet, did the dishes and all the laundry, and prepared dinner twice this week.
I actually thought I was going to be so busy today that I canceled a hair appointment. But now I'm realizing I should have kept it. Why? Because after I finish revising a couple magazine articles I have in the works, I'm going to be feeling downright desperate. I might just have to bust out Guitar Hero or something.
Incidentally, I said all of this in a slightly different way over on the HarperTeen MySpace page, where I'm the guest blogger today (fancy, no?). If you're as bored as I am, perhaps you'd like to read it and check it for spelling and grammatical errors...or something. Click on over here.
Oh, and have a super-productive and fabulously exciting life-of-a-novelist-style day, y'hear?
