Operation Teen Book Drop!

It's time for Operation Teen Book Drop 2010, people! What's that? you ask. Well, allow me to elaborate... Tomorrow, April 15th, the Young Adult Library Serivces Association (YALSA), along with readergirlz, GuysLitWire, and If I Can Read I Can Do Anything, will be delivering 10,000 new young adult books (generously donated by publishers) to teens living on Native American reservations and Tribal Lands.

How can YOU get involved? Great question! To raise awareness for the project and support Teen Literature Day, book lovers (like you!), along with YA authors (like me!) and librarians will be dropping Young Adult books in their own communities. All you need to do to participate is head over to the readergirlz TBD page and then download, print and paste bookplates into the teen books you want to drop out into the world. Tomorrow, leave these books in a public place (on a park bench, outside a grocery store, at a bus stop...). Whoever finds your book will know they're a part of Operation Teen Book Drop too.

What? You want to get even MORE involved? Then download and print up bookmarks and share them at your library, check out a wish-list of 750 books that you can purchase from Powells.com and have sent directly to tribal school libraries, get a widget counting down to TBD and post it on your blog, Tweet about TBD, and/or join the readergirlz party tomorrow night at 6 PM (PST)/9 PM (EST) at readergirlz.com.
